時間とお金があったら、この小説を読む

The barriers between me and reading them are my mood and the availability of time and filthy, filthy lucre. To make matters more complicated, most are series.

  • Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
I am a sucker for repentant douchebags. Especially if the said douchebag looks like...
Thanks for existing in this world!

I really want to read all the Gossip Girl books and watch all the episodes in the TV show. From what I know from Wikipedia, the storyline differs between the novels and the show. Yeah, I've got a shitload of spoilers from Wikipedia, but I still want to read the books and watch the show. I'm odd that way.

  • Mortal Instruments (and Infernal Devices) series by Cassandra Clare
The movie adaptation admittedly is not that impressive. But at least it has Cersei Lannister, hot version of Henry VIII, and Jamie Campbell Bower. It makes the movie redeemable. This series has been marked as 'nothing special YA series', 'so similar with others', yadda yadda. But still. I kind of want to read them.

I totally did not lie, I kid you not! See? See? See?

  • Mortdecai by Kyril Bonfiglio
Found them during a stroll in 神保町 with a particularly やさしい boy (yes, you - who else?) in a bookstore that carries a lot of foreign books. Hooked on the name (Mort-decai) and premise (seemingly silly, incompetent PI).

  • The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith
Because I love reading about charming sociopaths.

  • The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson
The title itself instigates curiosity. I've tried reading it but unable to finish it because... I don't know. At that time, I felt the pacing was tooo slow. But the やさしい boy said it's good. And someone at Goodreads says that Jonas Jonasson is the Carl Hiaasen of Sweden. I adore Hiaasen, so I think I will give this book another chance.

  • 名探偵コナン by 青山剛昌
I CANNOT BELIEVE I MISS SOME CONAN EDITIONS. I am getting old. Conan used to be my reason to live. Sorry, Cool Kid.
    コナンちゃん、御免なさい!
  • Festive in Death by JD Robb
There is only one barrier standing between me and latest JD Robb book. Don't get tricked by the low amount (one). Alone it might be, but mighty it is.
It is the damn greenbacks (or in case of my currency, redbacks - the tragic thing is that redbacks are the highest nominal in rupiah and it equals 一千円 - sigh, sob, rinse and repeat).
So, I must wait for the paperback. And even the paperback is still quite... I wouldn't bore you with recurring theme. The last option is online piracy, which I try very hard not to do (in case of JD Robb) because I like her works so far and want to support her by at least not stealing from her.
Sometimes, I have working moral standards that are the same with other people's.

  • Raising Steam by Sir Terry Pratchett
Most of my experiences reading Discworld books are pleasant and entertaining. And also, this book has my favorite couple, sly Moist von Lipwig and his matchless match, Adora Belle Dearheart. I almost purchased it... when I saw some Chandlers. Soooorrrryyyy Sir Terry, but Chandler precedes everything
Now I am in waiting for someone to buy this first and borrow it. Heh-heh-heh.
I wouldn't pirate it because of the same reason I wouldn't pirate JD Robb's book and one additional reason.
Sir Terry has Alzheimer's. It's not good stealing from an ill person, I think.

じゃ、so far, this is my catching up list which I may/ may not work on.
What's yours? I am very interested in knowing because I am curious, by nature. And who knows, maybe we have similar interest or you have a hidden gem in your list.
